Mariana started making wigs in 2013, originally she made them just for herself. Noticing that she had a lot of left over hair from old installs or looks. So she decided to teach herself how to turn those old bundles into custom wigs. Over the years Mariana has researched, and learned from trial and error on her own custom creations.
Mariana slowly started realizing that she could make her custom wigs even better and take them to the next level by installing them instead of getting a full sewin. Even though she loved the convenience of taking her wig on and off sometimes, Mariana wanted full freedom and mobility from her wigs since she does take and teach dance classes often and after enough hair whips her wigs would slip a little. After installing one of her wigs on herself she began to offer the service to her clients who have long thick natural hair or who have to get their install done more often. It was a way to save money for her clients and save time for herself. |
In 2016, Pure Locks Virgin Hair teamed up with Mariana to create Lace Front Wigs. From curly, to straight, to wavy, any texture and any color. When Pure Locks was contacted by Ashanti's, singer, hair stylist for a custom lace front wig, Mariana & Lia (owner of Pure Locks) were elated.. Mariana immediately started working on the wig creation, color, cut, and fit without any measurements or information from Ashanti's team. Ashanti loves her wig and face timed Mariana & Lia to thank them personally for her new look. She dusted off her wig and finally wore it for All Star Weekend and tagged both Mari's Makeovers & Pure Locks on her Instagram.
